Respected BBMP Commissioner / Public Health Officer,
I am a concerned student of AMC Engineering College, located at Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, Karnataka – 560083. I wish to lodge an anonymous complaint regarding a serious health hazard within the college premises.
As per an official communication shared by a faculty member (screenshot attached), students are being directed to use a tap water source near the stairs and lift area on the 5th floor of the ME Block for drinking purposes.
This water source is open, unfiltered, and highly unhygienic. Based on repeated observations:
-
Pigeon feathers are often found around the tap.
-
Monkeys are frequently seen drinking directly from the tap, and at times, contaminating the area.
-
The tap is often surrounded by insects and dirt, and there is no water purification or sanitization system in place.
This situation is a clear violation of public health norms and poses a serious risk to over 1000 students who may unknowingly consume this water.
I request BBMP to:
-
Conduct a health and safety inspection at AMC Engineering College (ME Block – 5th floor).
-
Test the water and issue a public advisory if contamination is confirmed.
-
Ensure the college provides safe, clean drinking water, such as RO or UV-filtered systems.
This is an anonymous submission as students are afraid of potential backlash or academic impact. We trust BBMP will treat this issue with the urgency it demands.
Thank you for your service and for helping maintain Bengaluru’s health standards.
Sincerely, A Concerned Student AMC Engineering College, Bannerghatta Rd, Bengaluru |
